My Experience: Art Jamming in Singapore with a TWIST at Streaks n Strokes Singapore!

art jamming singapore

Looking for a unique activity to do over the weekend? How about trying out something different – like art jamming in Singapore with a TWIST at Streaks n Strokes (formerly known as The Noteway Art Studio) Singapore?

I’m sure you must be wondering – eh, isn’t it just art jamming where you just paint and stuff? What’s the “TWIST” you are referring to? 🤔

Normal Art Jamming vs Art Jamming with a TWIST?!

  • Normal Art Jamming Classes = Painting on Canvas
  • Art Jamming with a TWIST at Streaks n Strokes = Painting on T-SHIRTS and TOTE BAGS

Indeed, I assure you that Streaks n Strokes is the FIRST in Singapore to be offering such a unique art jamming activity!

The Experience

I don’t want to bore you with too many details yet, so let me share MY experience doing this unique art jamming activity at Streaks n Strokes with my bestie, Crystal so that you can have a better idea what to expect!

For your reference, Streaks n Strokes is located at Level 6 of Natural Cool Lifestyle Hub (Tai Seng) – just a stone’s throw away from Tai Seng MRT! All you need to do is to alight at Tai Seng MRT (Exit C), head up to Level 1 of 18 Tai Seng Mall and take the exit beside Guardian pharmacy, turn left and cross the road to reach (about 3 minutes walk!)

There are three lifts you can use to head up to the studio but I highly recommend you go by this way as seen below! Follow the signs! 🙂

Then take the lift up to Level 6 and Streaks n Strokes will be located on the RIGHT the moment you exit!

Let’s just say that it’s not an entrance you will be able to miss that’s for sure!

Crystal and I really LOVE the studio setup and vibes because it’s set up in a way where it feels airy, welcoming and conducive for your creative juices to start flowing!

Free WIFI and free flow water is available for your taking as well!

We were not the only attendees during the session but I really like the fact that we have sufficient space in between the tables to ensure privacy for every group!

And of course, the tables and chairs can be arranged accordingly depending on every group’s purpose for attending the art jamming session – i.e corporate team bonding, birthday parties, bridal party/hen’s night out, couple dating activities and more!(:

The Pricing

For your reference, here’s the price list at Streaks n Strokes as below! But of course – if you get a larger group of 6 pax or more to attend the art jamming session with, the CHEAPER it will be!

For the above price, you get a two hour art jamming session with a choice of painting on a white cotton round neck T-shirt OR a cotton canvas tote bag! For the price, it is considered one of the more affordable and price friendly art jamming studios available in Singapore according to Alvinology!

It’s a hard choice to choose between both because they are two very unique types of products!

However, I really wanted my own tote bag AND a tee that I could bring home that day so I decided – you know what? I will take up the challenge to do BOTH (T-Shirt + Tote Bag) within a day!

If you decide to do BOTH just like me, it’s an additional $10, but you get an extra item and an extra 0.5 hours to paint! To me, since I have already traveled all the way to Tai Seng, I might as well top up to bring home 2 items instead of 1, right?! Hurhur, that’s the cheapo aka value for money bugger in me talking ;x

Crystal wasn’t as ambitious as this crazy person (aka me) so she went ahead with the tote bag instead hahahaha 😂😂

All the materials you need are already included in the price – from the blank tote bag to the T-shirts available in different sizes and of course, unlimited use of these special hand mixed fabric paint, paint brushes and palettes, so all you need to do is to head down and UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY!

Okay, but I have to admit that it wasn’t easy to think up of a design ideas as seen from our stressed faces while staring at our “blank canvases” in front of us. Lol.

Fortunately, Streaks n Strokes provided plenty of ideas and inspiration all around the studio with some displayed pieces and this link HERE where they had over 50 different design ideas to get some inspiration from!

Pro Tip: If you don’t want to scroll through their long article, you can also check out their Instagram Story Highlights or Facebook Albums which not only has all their ideas in categories, but what others have painted in their studio!

P.s It was hilarious because Crystal and I had the EXACT same idea / concept for our tote bag!

Here’s Crystal starting on her “artwork’ – first by tracing out the design on this magic marker! It’s much easier to do this vs freehand because you can paint over it!

Don’t worry if you made a mistake because the marker can be erased away by water(:

Here’s our original work before the paint job begun!

She’s super absorbed in her work la lol and here I was just snapping photos of her without starting on my own. And I have TWO to complete lol.

Then of course, I have to take such photos like these for the gram with my feeble attempt to act artsy and such. Heh.

Oh yes, before I forget to mention – an apron will be provided so that your clothes will be protected against any paint splatters!

That aside, can I just tell you how bad I am at mixing the colors to get the exact shade I wanted? LOL

P.s all of these hand mixed fabric paint are formulated and prepared in their t-shirt printing studio!

It’s just a huge pity that I have no flair when it comes to mixing the right colors. (And I did not find out until after the session, that Streaks n Strokes actually has colour mixing tips in their Instagram Story Highlights also!

So in the end, instead of wasting the paint, I decided to paint my artwork grey instead.

I almost died laughing because it was really really darn ugly at the beginning 😂😂😂

But you know what?

It wasn’t THAT bad when it was finally completed. Lol and yes, this is a Rilakkuma – albeit, Mitsueki’s version that is, haha!

I then quickly moved onto to my tote bag and that was easy. I did it freehand because I knew exactly what I wanted and I wanted the “writing” or painting to be more organic in the sense as if it is my own writing(: Of course, each to his or her own!

Once you have completed your painting on either your tote bag or t-shirt, the final step is to dry it using these special equipment such as this infra-ray hairdryer and a heat press machine and this can be done within less than 2-3 minutes!

I find it really cool that I can just bring my finished work home immediately after I was done without a need to wait for too long or anything. Indeed, technological advancement is really on a different level nowadays!

Best of all? It’s not bulky like a canvas art piece! Everything fits nicely into the bagkindly provided by Streaks n Strokes to bring your finished tote bag or t-shirt home! 🙂

Note: It is recommended to do gentle washes on your T-shirt / tote bag after 2-3 days!

That aside, we were SUPER proud of our completed work after that so of course we had to snap photos with them after that!

We took ALOT of photos as you can tell because the backdrop was so Instagram friendly here at Streaks n Strokes! Plus you can tag their location when you post all your fun shots here too~

And honestly speaking – I couldn’t ask for any better company to do this unique art jamming activity with other than my bestie, Crystal!(: We had a lovely time bonding and generally had a fun girl’s day out – refer to my usual daily blog post HERE (5 Jan 2019!)!

Hehe my only regret? I should have asked all my usual KC girls clique along for a girls’ day out activity! Otherwise, I feel that this could be a really fun corporate team bonding activity for my company as well!

And if you need even more ideas or reasons to book your unique art jamming class with a twist at Streaks n Strokes – here ya go:

1) Baby Showers
2) Family bonding -> ( Mother’s Day, Father’s Day)
3) Couples Activities (hint hint, Valentine’s Day is coming soon!)
4) Birthday parties (Your guests can bring hand painted souvenirs home!)
5) Family Bonding Activity
6) Bridal Parties

Am VERY sure you will enjoy your art jamming session with Streaks n Strokes like what Crystal and I did!

Now go forth and UNLEASH your creative juices! 🎨👩‍🎨👨‍🎨🖌️

P.s don’t forget to always LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE and SMILE! 😄

Thanks always for reading!
