Just to share this ridiculous experience I had with SMRT this morning.
STUCK in the SMRT Circle Line for 1 HOUR in a NEVER ENDING LOOP!

Watch the video from 4 seconds – 13 seconds, the sign said “To DHOBY GHAUT”, but when I entered the train, the sign in the train was going back to “CE2 MARINA BAY”. I got off immediately. If you look at the sign again, it changed to “To Marina Bay”.
The Full Lengthy Story Below:
I felt that I was in a scene in Dr Strange. You know the part where Dr Strange was doing a time loop? Yeah I’m not even joking.
#1: Dakota MRT -> Dhoby Ghaut MRT (Landed up in Marina Bay MRT)
I boarded the train from Dakota MRT at 8.30am heading towards Dhoby Ghaut MRT and somehow, landed up in Marina Bay. I thought I was confused and somehow boarded the wrong train. So I took the train back to Promenade MRT to switch to Dhoby Ghaut MRT once again.
#2: Promenade MRT -> Dhoby Ghaut MRT (Landed up in Bayfront MRT)
I looked at the sign and it stated “DHOBY GHAUT” and hence, I boarded the train. And guess what again? IT WAS TAKING ME BACK TO MARINA BAY MRT?? Luckily this time I was listening to the announcements and got off at Bayfront MRT. This time.. I knew it wasn’t just me. Cos a whole group of other commuters experienced the same thing as me!
#3: Promenade MRT -> Dhoby Ghaut MRT (Almost landed up in Bayfront MRT AGAIN)
I had to retake the train back to Promenade MRT a THIRD time. This time, I took a video on Instagram as evidence (mentioned above).

If I didn’t get off, I would be back in the same neverending loop of PROMENADE -> MARINA BAY -> PROMENADE FOREVER (okay, maybe not – I would have taken a cab at Promenade).
Thankfully, I did managed to get to Bras Basah eventually as the next train to Dhoby Ghaut was the correct one. Thanks ah SMRT, reached work at 9.45am in the end. Moral of the story? Do check to see where your train destination is once you are onboard and get off immediately if it is wrong. DO NOT TRUST THE DESTINATION WRITTEN ON THE BOARD.
