Sundays are my slacking day. It’s a day for me to be on my own for a few hours; to have some casual introvert-time. It’s also usually a day for me to catch-up on my assignments that are usually due the next day (yes, I’m a big-time procrastinator).
One of my favourite locations is South Union Park @ Kembagan. Great pasta and friendly ambience – perfect for me. And the fact that they’ve got wifi is a plus!
So on one fine Sunday, my dear friend (who was also the pretty Manager of SUP) offered me this lovely dessert: Cherry Pie. Turns out that at South Union Park, they got a batch of really fresh and sweet cherries, so I got the chance to taste the creation of this awesome dish.
Let me be honest: I am not a fan of cherries. They are expensive, and that’s enough to deter me to buying them on a frequent basis.
However, I really appreciate how cherries look. That deep crimson colour is appealing, and when baked in a pie – boy, that colour just looks downright sexy.
This cherry pie I had was just that. The above photo does no justice to the goodness within.
The crust had that awesome buttery fragrance before it entered my mouth. I don’t know about you, but I really like my pastries to have that fragrance – I’m more convinced that they used butter and not margarine.
I also realised that there are no ‘fillers’. You know, some times you add a little stuff here and there to make the pie appear like there are more ingredients to use less cherries. But this one doesn’t – it was simply cherries. The natural sweetness is not so sharp; the taste from such a small fruit is quite exquisite.
And lucky me – I got a scope of ice-cream with this dessert. You probably know how awesome it is to have a cold ice-cream topped on a warm, sweet dessert, so ’nuff said.
