Time flies and 5 days in Bangkok is a good pace within this city that we have been so often.

Today’s itinerary is pretty chill and simple – woke up late, had apples which the hubs bought for me, tried all my loots from Chatuchak Weekend Market and this pistachio milk drink, yums.

Lunch was at Ban Khun Mae บ้านคุณแม่ for your typical Thai food – tom kha gai, crab omelette, green curry, kai lan and pineapple fried rice to share. This has always been a classic place to dine at but I feel that the flavours have been muted to become more sweet to cater to a specific crowd. It was not spicy at all, so I was surprised! Still, a decent meal but I think I’ll probably try other proper Thai food places in the future for more authentic Thai food~

(More suitable for people who can’t take spice!)

We spent the rest of the time walking around MBK Centre, which is a anime mecca hub for anime merchandise, pop up cafes etc. Like this super long queue for an Ouran High School Host Club pop up cafe, a large Animate store and they really take their popcorn buckets super seriously here!

They were running a special 25th anniversary Digimon pop up exhibition and store during this period and we decided to go check it out! Since it was a ticketed version, we just took some photos outside and headed into the merchandise store instead. The hubs managed to find some cheap gacha cards and pulled out Metalgreymon and Greymon. Sadly, no Wargreymon but this works!

We also grabbed Mae Varee’s mango sticky rice for dessert back to our hotel to enjoy and it was ohhh so good.

Afterwhich, we were off to ICONSIAM for one of the key highlights of this trip (for the hubs). Prior to that, we also visited tbe mall opposite ICONSIAM to have a looksee but it was nothing much as compared to our favourite mall in Bangkok.

The hubs has visited quite a number of malls in China but he said ICONSIAM ranks #1 in terms of architecture so trust an engineer haha.

Anyway, this may be our favourite mall but we wouldn’t typically go out of our way to visit it..if not for the fact that a One Piece Cafe / pop up event was happening here! Best of all, it was free entry hehe.

Though, we had to pay to get a food item from the cafe just to get a stamp rally card (to get a freebie). The food item also came with several One Piece merchandise so that made it more worth it. The cafe was small but kinda cute-ish, not your full fledged cafe. However, there are plenty of photo opportunities all around for One Piece fans like the hubs.

The exhibition area isn’t very big either, just a few rooms with all the 10 main characters in several of the worlds. The main draw however, would be (1) the large thousand sunny ship photo op which you can climb up the steps to board and snap photos “onboard” (2) the relatively large merchandise store that had the hubs rather impressed.

He bought a shirt, in case you were wondering :p

Off we head next to explore around ICONSIAM with what limited time we had left. The original plan was to head to Chinatown but the ferry closed earlier than expected (630pm!) and there was only ONE ferry left that goes to Sathorn.

Since we’ve never really taken the ferry together, it was worth paying the 12 baht ferry ride fee to cross the Chao Phaya River even if its just for a 5 mins ride.

We had a massage appointment later at 10pm and had to make it back in time..which technically we did cos it was 9pm when we boarded the BTS which would reach back at National Stadium by 930pm. This means we could shower, chill for abit before heading out of our hotel for the massage.

But nope, that didn’t happen in the end LOL.

We fell asleep on the train ride and was rudely awoken by the bts conductor to get off at the end of the station.

Wait, what??

We took the wrong way all the way to Bang Wa instead omg lol!!

Thankfully it was a 30 mins ride back to our hotel and we rushed ..making it SLIGHTLY a little late for our massage. Oh well, at least we made it, phew.

Prices here at our usual massage place has gone up so much recently. From 600 baht for a 2hr massage to 850 baht now. Hence, we just took the 700 baht session for 1.5hrs each. Not the cheapest considered that you can get 2hr massages for 700 baht even at the malls. Too pricey..thankfully their massage was pretty good.

Our last day splurge before we fly off tomorrow!
