Good morning!! Today is the day we fly and I took an OIL in the AM, so I could just focus on enjoying this day. The hubs wfh for half a day in the end so he didn’t have to take a full dah leave too.
This means having the time to sleep in, prep our brunch of everything leftovers in the fridge to clear it up (eggs/prawns/broccoli paired with bread, a side of fruits and tarts), schedule all of my Mitsueki’s blog posts and finish packing before heading to the airport!
The hubs was dressed all in black, right from his bag to his shoes complete with the trash bag haha, and super happy with his new mini e-reader book.
We were off to the airport with our first stop at the One Piece Mugiwara Store before its impending closure. A pity, but not surprising cos everything was way more expensive here in Singapore and there wasn’t anything too special.
On the other hand, they just revamped the Pokemon Store Singapore and now..this is where they got it right!
- Updated look and feel so it does look like a legit Pokemon Store from Japan
- Updated the mascot haha
- Launched Singapore limited edition merchandise at relatively affordable prices that people would want to buy as a collectible! Even I was tempted to get some of the items, cos these are exclusive!
The hubs was also really excited about his Spiderman movie that we would be watching tomorrow in theatres!
Meanwhile, there are plenty of freebies to claim at the airport if you’re at T1!

- Shilla Duty Free Store is always running campaigns for free. Flashed our boarding pass for a free lucky draw ticket and won another $3 off no min spending. Good, if you’re planning to buy stuff there anyways.
After redeeming all these freebies, it was time to head to the lounge for our free drinks, and perhaps a snack if we weren’t too full.
We ended up with just enjoying a cuppa of coffee for the hubs, and hot chocolate for me while we waited for our gates to be open.
It wasn’t too long till we were onboard our Scoot flight to Bangkok! However, what was a surprise was when the Scoot steward handed over a special delivery from KrisShop – a jellycat bouquet of flowers plush, aka the hubs fulfilling my yearly request of receiving flowers for our wedding anniversary. Haha, that was a sweet gesture that made my day before we flew off!
A smooth 2.5hrs flight later .. we touched down at Suvarnabhumi Airport ท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิ, went through immigration within 5 mins thanks to the e-gate for Singaporeans and off we go on the Airport Rail Link (ARL) to Siam!
It was a straight route from the airport to Phaya Thai before transferring to the BTS for 2 more stops to reach Siam. Total: 70 baht, approx 50 mins without any traffic jams.
Since we were traveling light for this leg of the trip with just a bagpack each, we decided to head straight for dinner first instead of our hotel cos we were hungry!!
As the wait for our dinner at Fam Time Steak and Pasta @Siam Square was around 40 mins, the hubs satisfied his hunger enjoying the nori wings from JOE WINGS (Siam Square) โจ วิงส์ (สยามสแควร์) instead cos he was too hungry. I had a piece too, a little too floury with ALOT of seasoning, it was okay for me while the hubs enjoyed it.
And after a 40 mins wait, yay time for a proper dinner here at Fam Time Steak and Pasta @Siam Square!
We ordered their signature truffle pizza and the salmon pesto. The former was really yummy, albeit salty while the salmon pesto is a popular dish to be ordered here for a reason. Very carb heavy and we definitely needed to walkaround for abit to digest! Total bill: 704 baht, approx $28 for this meal. Not the cheapest but not too shabby 🙂 Would consider returning to try their other pastas and for the pizza again!
Just a short walk away was our hotel, Lub d Bangkok Siam located at a few steps away from National Stadium BTS, and just opposite MBK Centre, walking distance from Siam directly. We got this at a very good price for $50 per night when we booked it in advance.

It’s actually a hostel but obviously we booked one of their private rooms instead. For $50 per night..no complaints for this compact room cos we are used to Japanese sized rooms for 2. This is already much bigger and has all the amenities we need for a comfortable stay.
It started pouring like crazy, but aiya we still decided to head out for abit to MBK Centre nearby to walk around the supermarket for abit, have a looksee at our surroundings before calling it a night as things were closing by 10pm at the mall.
Time to have a good rest before a full Day 2 tomorrow, quite a relaxed trip this round. Let’s enjoy~
