#WeekendsWithMitsueki Stayover x Village Hotel Bugis Staycay x Kitten Sanctuary x Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar x Zam Zam and Loaded Fries - 23 March 2024

Happy weekend everyone! It’s a rare weekend waking up at the misters place in the morning as I stayed over the night before since his mom was away during this period. Pretty much crashed the night before after my OT till 1030pm. Meanwhile today is rest day before doing abit of work when we were back tomorrow.

This means a really chillax sleep in morning before grabbing lunch of duck rice while we watched a couple of episodes of the latest Physical 100 Season 2 that just dropped the week before.

Our free staycay at Village Hotel Bugis begins after, a giveaway prize he won last Christmas and we were finally utilising it this month!

We were quite surprised tbh with the room because it was quite nicely renovated, relative to the slightly older facade of this older hotel. The location is pretty decent as well, right smack in the heart of the Bugis/Arab vicinity.

The first order of business for us was to head over to the Kitten Sanctuary (also known as The Cat Museum). Bookings can be done online in advance priced at $20/hour per person – all of which goes to the upkeep of the cats at this self run cat charity.

This is actually my second visit here, the first being with Crystal a few years back. Nothing much has changed since then, with the visit starting off with playing at the older cat section for the first 30 mins. These cats are less playful and enjoy relaxing/chilling more allowing more pats and cuddle time. I was lucky enough to be selected by one where he happily sat in my lap and I had a great time 🙂

The next 30 mins went on and we moved to the next section where the young cats were kept. Unfortunately no adorable kittens this round as they have grown up a little. Most of the younger cats here are around a year and above, below 5. These little ‘uns are so naughty and are very treat driven. No treats no love, but luckily treats are free here, handed out to you by the volunteers.

Overall, we had a great time chilling the afternoon away and it’s a lovely way to destress with some animal therapy.

Next up, to look for dinner at Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar just located opposite our hotel. It was really crowded closing to dinner timing on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately nothing much really caught my attention beyond 1-2 burger stalls.

We ended up using our free F&B vouchers at Zam Zam Restaurant to purchase their deer murtabak and mutton soup, before hopping by frites located round the corner to pick up their loaded beef fries.

Fortunately we could enjoy all of these back in the comfort of our hotel, alongside some lamb bites he bought from the bazaar, ending off with a slice of ondeh ondeh coconut cake, courtesy of the hotel as part of our giveaway prize.

And that’s pretty much how we ended the night after that – beyond a quick visit to Bugis to pick up some bottled water and snacks.

The mister also surprised me with a little gift that night and he’s really the sweetest. I’m a blessed girl indeed.
