#OfficeDiaries: Quick Snippets x CNY Reunion Tasting Dinner @ Yue at Aloft – 22 Jan 2024

#OfficeDiaries Quick Snippets x CNY Reunion Tasting Dinner @ Yue at Aloft - 22 Jan 2024

It’s back a workweek Monday after a busy weekend! Read about it here:

Meanwhile, here’s a quick snippet look at my day so far with a slightly heavier brekkie, fruits for lunch, some bites and gifts from our vendor/my colleague as I ended my day with a VIP view traveling down to my media tasting dinner date with the mister!

This is my first time at the newly rebranded Aloft Hotel located at Zhongshan Park (16 Ah Hood Road) where we would be trying out their new restaurant, Yue by Aloft’s CNY reunion sets at this tasting.

For this particular tasting, we were treated to the 8 Course Set Meal at $1088 ($108++ per person) available for dine-in from 26 Jan-24 Feb 2024 at Yue at Aloft.

Starting off with:

Abundance Yu Sheng with Baby Abalone, Scallops, Smoked Salmon, Finger Lime, Assorted Fruits and Passionfruit Sauce paired with Prosecco

We missed out on the main lohei due to my work commitments and enjoyed digging into the yusheng after instead. It came with super generous portions, premium ingredients and delicious fruits that paired all very well with the Passionfruit Sauce. You can also opt to pair it with prosecco to finish it off nicely 🙂

I went for seconds so you know it should be pretty good! Best of all, if you just want to try this ala-carte, you can use my code <SGLIFESTYLECNY20> for 20% off all orders dine-in, takeaway for the yusheng.

Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Fish Maw, Sea Whelk and Conpoy

Their signature double boiled chicken soup came up next and you can really taste the flavours of the ingredients within it, plus very fresh fish maw, sea whelp and conpoy. Cantonese people will approve this!

Steamed Soon Hock with Garlic and Superior Soy Sauce

What got a nod of approval and thumbs up around the table, along with a second helping was their steamed soon hock. Simple ingredients that don’t take away from the freshness of the fish (from their water tank!) and steamed to perfection. We enjoyed this very much!

Rose Me A River and Orange Blossom Dreams Cocktails

We also had cocktail pairings to go along with the meal and I enjoyed the orange blossom version!

Deep Fried Tiger Prawns with Creamy Milk and Salted Egg Lime Sauce

I love the fact that you can request to robe the shells from their prawn dishes. Although it’s not as aesthetically pleasing but it makes it so convenient for eating. The prawns were also fried beautifully and goes well with this salted egg and milk lime sauce.

Braised 6 Head Abalone with Pork Knuckle, Fresh Mushrooms and Black Moss

Everyone knows that achieving tender meat for a whole pork knuckle is difficult and they made it happen for this dish. It’s a very sinful decadent dish but a treat once in awhile is ok. The fresh mushroom were lovely as well, though I would say the 6 head Abalone was a slight let down for me as it was a little too tough for my taste.

Pan Seared Irish Duck Breast With Honey Jus

You can’t go wrong with duck breast and this is a relatively fatty cut. Again another sinful yet decadent treat.

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice With Preserved Meat and Sakura Ebi

To add on to the indulgence.. we also have their Chinese sauce fried rice with preserved meat and topped with copious amounts of Sakura ebi. Oh so sinful and we relished every bite. It also got tastier the more you eat it!

Chilled American Ginseng With Peach Gum and White Fungus

Cream Puff

The finale was to end off with dessert which by then..we were stuffed! I’m happy that there are two parts to it, a cooling Chinese dessert with ginseng, peach gum and white fungus to combat all the heatiness from the sinfulness we have been indulging in; plus a nice sweet treat that kids and adults with a sweet tooth will love.

Overall, we were very impressed with the quality of the dishes at Yue by Aloft and will definitely be topping my list of places to bring our parents for future celebrations including CNY, Mother’s Day and birthdays!

Thank you for having us 🙂
