#WeekendsWithMitsueki: Furniture Shopping x Spam of MRT/Bus Rides x Trying Honbo @ CHIJMES – 21 Jan 2024

#WeekendsWithMitsueki Furniture Shopping x Spam of MRTBus Rides x Trying Honbo @ CHIJMES - 21 Jan 2024

Today’s a day where I’ve taken the most amount of MRT/bus rides around our lil island for the first time (albeit, just the East side) as we went on a hunt to look out for some new furnishings for the misters place this CNY.

But first, weekly chores, a quick workout and a snack before we were off!

Our first stop was to a furniture showroom at MacPherson area where he got a one day deal of around $1099 for a 3 seater PU sofa & Queen size storage bed inclusive of delivery before CNY and installation. Anyway because this wasn’t a long term investment, especially for the storage bed so it was fine. Naturally I think if you were purchase it from Malaysia, it might be cheaper imo.

Next up, to Singapore Expo to check out one of the furniture fairs, Wing Tai Retail outlet sale and Mummy’s Market just for kicks. Didn’t really find anything good there, though there was a this sofa at a pretty decent deal..too bad about the colour options. The storage bed was also relatively cheap, but you pay for what you get in terms of quality.

Pasir Ris was next for the mister to meet up a Carouseller to try to fix his drone batteries before we headed down to East point to check out the Courts Moving Out Sale. Nope, nothing much there tbh!

Our next stop – traveling to the city area, specially CHIJMES to try out Honbo, the Hong Kong burger chain that made a splash when they first entered the Singapore market last year and finally we got this ticked off our to try list.

We went for the Honbo burger ($18) and Honbo 1.5 ($23) just to see the difference between both sizes. The difference is honestly the addition of one extra patty and cheese for a whooping $5 if you think about it. Note that similar to Shake Shack, the prices of these burgers are ala carte and doesn’t come with any drinks or sides.

As such, we topped up for 2 sides, the tater tots and fries at $4.50 each, plus a dip at $2. On hindsight, I wouldn’t have ordered the dip and went for the provided Henz ketchup. The dip was ok tbh but I felt that the ketchup actually went better hahaha.

To be frank, the burgers were delicious, very meat, very juicy and the sides were great too. For the best meat to bun ratio, I would suggest going for the Honbo as we felt that the triple patty was way too much. The buns could be better too imo but that’s just me being picky. Beyond that, I think it’s about the price that will make you think again about coming back with the most basic Honbo burger setting you back $18 alone!

P.s in case you were wondering, the mister still thinks that OFC (One Fattened Calf) reins supreme hahaha.

Our next few stops – to Havelock to make our monthly payment for our hotel banquet before traveling back once again to the East side to Tai Seng to visit another furniture showroom (his 2nd visit actually) to bargain. Lol, the bargain failed so the deal was sealed as we went back again to the MacPherson showroom for $1099 – sofa delivery before CNY and our new bedframe, TBC closer to our wedding date.

We also popped by a few 7-Eleven stalls along the way trying out the new Vitasoy soy milk, as well as the new Duck Shit Oolong Tea x Lemon Tea from Lan Fong Yuen. Yes I’m not kidding, it’s literally called duck shit lol and the combination is pretty good; again just slightly expensive at $4.50 for 2 bottles (on offer). It does taste abit more premium to justify the price tag imo.

Finally to end off, it was back to the misters place and time to chillax and relax over anime and being curled up on the sofa as we count down to the start of the workweek.

I hope you had a great weekend like we did!
