It almost doesn’t feel like a work day today right after a long Christmas holiday, but if you’re not on leave .. it’s back to work:( On a brighter side, we have a short 4 day work week and another long weekend to look forward to as we step into 2024!
Another bright spark – meeting my friends for a tasting dinner at Fook Kin to try out their new menu! This is actually a postponed tasting due to two members of our party getting COVID / pneumonia respectively.. so take care everyone and mask up during this period! In the end, the wifey came as a last min replacement as well cos he was still infectious.
Anyways, we were here to try the new items on their recent 2023 menu launch, on top of their classic favourites!
Don’t forget to check out their value for money lunch menu as well starting from $9.80 with a free drink on weekdays 🙂
Anyway, here’s what we shared to try:
Curry Mama (NEW) – $10.80 each
There are 4 different variations of the curry noodles with different noodle options (mama noodles, thick bee hoon etc) but I would highly recommend you to go for the mama noodles because they fit SUPER well with that slurpy curry broth – perfect for the current weather.
Topped with an egg, fried pig skin and garnishes with your meat of choice (roast duck/char Siew/seafood/roasted pork), it tastes like a Singaporean rendition of the popular Thai mama noodles.
Beyond the individual portions, they also have it as a group sharing platter starting from $38/58 respectively! Delicious and I think this is a great new addition to their existing menu, we enjoyed it!
Omelette Crab Bomb – $22.80 + $3 Cheese
Continuing on the Thai inspired menu, you have to order one of their classic omelette Crab bomb to complement this curry mama noodles! For this price, you are getting a hefty piece of omelette generously stuffed with thick chunks of crab meat! Top up for extra cheese if you loveeee a cheese pull as well! This crab bomb is good for 4 to share!
Sweet and Sour Cheese Pork Balls – $15.80
You may have heard of sweet and sour balls but have you tried sweet and sour cheese pork Balls? Imagine your favourite gulourou stuffed with a generous piece of mozzarella cheese and that cheese pull you get when you bite into it! Do note to eat it when it’s hot for the cheese pull, or else the cheese will turn solid within the fried pork morsels. It comes very nicely plated with a strawberry sauce and mini dragonfruit/strawberry cubes by the side!
Seabass (HK Style) – $38
For those who love fish, you can consider ordering their seabass which comes in various cooking styles. We went for the HK Style soy sauce 🙂
Claypot Curry Mixed Vegetables – $10.80
To round up the meal, you should always go for some veggie choices! In this case, we went for their Claypot curry mixed vegetables that came with nice crunchy veggies, taupok, brinjal. This would go nice with rice best!
Not forgetting drinks to go around with like what we had! And they came in this cute Fook Kin kopitiam style cup! Something unique you can try is their iced tea with sorbet; a refreshing combination; albeit a little pricey at $7.
All that aside, it’s about the company that matters and the mister was lucky to be surrounded by three lovely ladies tonight HAHAHA. I will also be running a giveaway to give three sets of this tasting meal to a few lucky winners on my FB/IG so I hope you caught it then!
Most importantly, thanks always for reading~
