Because it’s a non work day, aka Saturday today, it feels as if it’s Christmas Eve already!
Today’s plans are pretty simple – a pre Xmas lunch treat for my mom and the mister at the newly opened The White Tiffin Fusion at Mount Faber Hotel located at Telok Blangah. They had an opening promotion for $28.80++ per pax for a Peranakan buffet over the weekends in Dec so why not bring my mom to try to see what she thought!
The place was much smaller than we thought, a little cramped/crowded when it’s full house like for this day so just fyi if you plan to book it. Some seats are fine like for us, some, a little squeezy imo. The buffet option is also small but sufficient – just don’t expect a massive variety of food.
Nonetheless be rest assured that the food will definitely fill you up because most of them are gravy laden / carb heavy. We didn’t go for any seconds on the food, however we were extremely STUFFED just by trying a small portion of everything on the buffet line.
It ranges from dimsum (coffee Pau, Kaya Pau, siew mai, har gao) to different types of crackers, DIY rojak station, DIY laksa station, blue pea rice, mee siam, fried fish, Babi ponteh, chicken, tahu goreng, curry veggies and fish maw soup for the hot section.
And a relatively good array of nyonya / old school desserts from tapioca kueh, rainbow lapis, kueh salt, little old school cakes, canned fruit cocktail, green bean soup and a pretty fruit platter.
Overall, we thought the food was not too bad. However, my mom still prefers Penang Place as the space is much bigger and she feels the taste is more authentic.
Moving back home, it’s time for Xmas presents from us to her! The mister surprised her with a big present of a filtered water dispenser while I gave her her favourite present $$ cold hard cash hahahaha. We had some home cooked soup later on from my aunt and off we said goodbye to move on back to the misters place to chillax.
Not pictured, me sleeping off the food coma for almost THREE hours that afternoon cos we were super full?!
Took this chance that night to go see the bazaar happening just opposite his place at Geylang Wisma where there was a whole stretch of food stalls, shopping and concerts happening for the Malay community. It was still nice to check it out before heading back for fruits, chips and ending the night by finishing off the Netflix’s live anime adaption of Yu Yu Hakuso. Not bad, the fighting scenes were pretty bomb!
And that’s how we spent the Eve of Christmas Eve together! Looking forward to more fun times 🙂
