#WeekendsWithMitsueki: 2D1N Montigo Resorts Getaway (Day 1) x Sego Pecel Sopo Ngiro x Massage Day x Chill Relax and GoJek Food – 7 Oct 2023

#WeekendsWithMitsueki 2D1N Montigo Resorts Getaway (Day 1) x Sego Pecel Sopo Ngiro x Massage Day x Chill Relax and GoJek Food - 7 Oct 2023

Happy weekends everyone! It’s gonna be a super busy month of short trips arranged during this period that we booked beforehand almost every weekend, starting off with a quick 2D1N trip to Batam where I won a stay at Montigo Resorts!

Here we were bright and early at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to have brekkie and chill before boarding the ferry to Batam. It wasn’t too long before we reached the ferry terminal (45-50 mins+ ride) onboard the relatively comfy BatamFast Ferry ride.

Upon reaching, we hopped onto a Grab to bring us to a slightly local area for an early lunch prior to our lunch time massage session. The reason for doing so is because everything at Montigo Resorts is really expensive when you can get things or services way cheaper outside. The location of the resort is also quite ulu, situated around 45-50 mins from the Batam City Centre; and 20-30 mins from the nearest mall where we were at.

Lunch was decided to be at Sego Pecel Sopo Ngiro which I found off Google maps with relatively high ratings. This is a very local place, not streetside but also nothing fancy with no air conditioning. However, what matters here is the food and they sell authentic Javanese food (cai png) style of sego pecel. Think rice served with a variety of veggies doused with peanut sauce and you can choose more sides if you’d like too.

In our case, we both had the nasi Pecel and added on chicken, egg, fried tempeh and a few other stuff, plus a teh botol. Total damage for 2 pax, less than S$6 which is relatively affordable. It was delicious too; albeit spicy! We also went opposite to get some freshly fried goreng Pisang to round off this meal before heading to the supermarket for some browsing to kill time before our massage session.

Tadahh welcome to our massage place called Bamboo Massage & Reflexology, also another hidden place I found off Google maps which is the nearest massage place located to Montigo. The lunch place is also located just 5 mins walking distance away so you can always follow the same itinerary as us. Just note that this is not a very commercialized place / quite rundown as it isn’t within the city area.

Now the prices here can’t be beat. I booked a 2 hour aromatherapy massage session for myself and a 90 min aromatherapy + 30 min head massage for the mister and paid a total of slightly less than S$40 for two of us?! Like where else can you find such a price anywhere.

Of course no expectations to get a 5 star luxury experience; would say it’s budget style however the masseurs were not too shabby. Very strong actually so be sure to request for them to go lighter if you prefer to have a lighter massage! Overall, we had a great massage and enjoyed it (fell asleep multiple times!!) and wouldn’t mind returning if we are within vicinity.

Finally, it’s time for us to grab over to Montigo Resorts for our check in! The price was less than S$7 for this particular fare so I would think there’s a surcharge taking from the ferry terminal instead.

Their lobby was under renovation during this period hence the check in was temporarily done at their gift shop instead. Swift check in and we were off on the buggy to head to our villa! Note that ALL accommodations in Montigo Resorts are villa style starting from a 1 bedroom villa for 2 pax onwards and above.

Welcome to our 1 bedroom villa at 1201! It was super spacious, comfy and rather clean despite a number of reviews complaining about the poor maintenance of their villa. Maybe we were luckier to get a better one but this so far was good for us. Everything works as it was supposed to be, and our private pool was relatively clean too. Of course not to say that there were a few downsides / faulty stuff in the room but they were quite minor. For 1N (and it was free!), I ain’t complaining too much.

We spent the rest of the day/night chilling in the bathtub (it does take awhile to be filled up), on the bed scrolling socials and basically had a great time nua-ing the day away because that’s what a resort stay is for. Later on, we also ordered food via GoJek cos it was way cheaper than ordering in at the villa / or heading to one of the multiple restaurants available.

The only downside is the waiting time which we were prepared for (1 hour), and that the mister had to head out of the villa to the reception area to pick it up as well as delivery directly to the villas are not allowed. Beyond that, it was this entire feast for a mere S$12 including delivery which was a pretty good steal imo. And boy did we enjoy it while watching the latest episode of Loki streaming on Disney+.

Time for an early night cos that’s what R&R is for on holiday~

Gnite and thanks always for reading!
