Where do I even begin?

Let’s just say that I just came back from a fantastic night at the gala premier of &Juliet – the latest Broadway’s Tony-Nominated Smash Hit Musical to hit our shores this September in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands!

If you’re new to musicals and not a fan of the usual classics and prefer something way more modern, I think that &Juilet will be a musical that would appeal to you especially if you’re a) a millennial b) love pop songs c) enjoy having a great time!

In a nutshell, don’t expect the usual Shakespeare Romeo & Juilet story in this musical, but a twist comprising of more “woke” elements ranging from self discovery, independence, female empowerment, diversity and acceptance all bundled into an upbeat story coupled with your favourite pop songs.

There were definitely some surprises throughout the musical that we didn’t expect, alot of laughter (some dirty jokes), plenty of dancing and singing so feel free to sing your hearts out alongside the cast because you’ll definitely recognise the lyrics from popular songs from Britney Spears, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys and many more. I would say the lyrics were perfectly used in place of the usual conversations!

Overall, fantastic vocals, a great set, wonderful performances with modernised costumes
