Weekends with Mitsueki: Arnold’s Chicken Lunch x Top Gun: Maverick – 28 May 2022

weekends with mitsueki x arnolds chicken x dumpling festival x top gun maverick

Happy weekend! We’re four days away from 1 June before the chicken export ban kicks in and we can say hello to price hikes, chicken shortage and frozen chicken > fresh chicken. So before that.. go eat chicken, like our last chicken rice at Katong Mei Wei Boneless Chicken Rice last week, and the Mister’s favourite fried chicken, Arnold’s Chicken today!

Arnold’s Chicken has a couple of outlets and the one he frequents the most is the original City Plaza outlet which is also touted to have the best (tasting) version and is pretty consistent over the years.

Surprisingly, there wasn’t too much of a crowd when we visited today and we got in easily without a queue and a short waiting time before our plates of freshly fried and piping hot half spring chicken served with colesaw and crispy fries were ready for our collection. To the mister, this is his #1 fried chicken in the world and nothing comes close to it. For me, I agree that it was indeed delicious, but isit my top #1? Probably not, however I did enjoy the meal and will be back in the future 🙂

Next up, Mr Santa helped me our with some errands and labour work before we cooled down with some LiHo cos phew, the recent weather has been rather insane!

Our movie date with Tom Cruise to watch his latest movie, Top Gun: Maverick was next and yep, it was an excellent sequel to the original movie with plenty of improvements to the CGI, more breathtaking aerial stunts, a good story that ties up some loose ends from the original movie with great acting and an amazing soundtrack – it’s a must watch if you haven’t done so yet.

Finally, to end off the night – we headed over to Cafe Lodge located at YMCA to collect the rice dumplings I ordered in advance for the Dragon Boat Festival. They aren’t any big name or branded dumplings but they were around the vicinity, and all the nett proceeds go towards their YMCA funds so it’s like donating to a good cause, while being able to enjoy some rice dumplings at a pocket friendly price of $4.80 each (okay, still expensive for a dumpling) + share them with my family and friends for gifting = a win-win situation for all.

Not forgetting fruits for dinner cos lunch was super heavy, some fruit cups and grocery shopping before calling it a day. Overall, it’s a great Saturday and I hope you had a fantastic one yourself on this day too!

Thanks always for reading and see ya for your usual post tml!
