Mondays are usually the most Sian days of the week cos it marks the start of a 5-work workweek. But not for me today cos I’m on leave yay!
It started off well with a slice of kueh lapis (rolled) from Indonesia paired with that delicious oat milk that the mister got for me.
Then it was a rare weekday lunch date with my mom at this Penang Chinese restaurant located at Toa Payoh Hub. Its located at the rows behind the main Street (behind the Pau stores/bubble tea shops etc), a lil hidden food alley where you can find a number of restaurants lcoated here. This also marks our second visit as my mom really enjoyed the Penang char kway teow the last round.
This time however, she had something different – the fried bee hoon in gravy while I had the Assam laksa. Both were pretty delicious and the prices, pocket friendly with no GST & service charge for the meal. We also rounded up the meal with a bowl of Chendol to share between us and the red beans used in it were delicious. Will definitely be back and I would recommend you drop for a visit if you’ve a hankering for Penang style food around the area!
To make up for the meal, I impulsively booked a bounce class on ClassPass since I had the time plus some credits to use and phew, it was a great workout to end off the day – best when paired with a food exchange with the mister where he traded me a chicken pie puff for ang ku kueh for dinner that night heh.
On the whole, a good day and I hope you’re having a great week ahead too!
