Public Holidays with Mitsueki (SP Phase 2 (HA), Day 199 (Day 734): Birthday Staycation @ D’Hotel Singapore Day 1 x Bigmama Korean Restaurant – 15 April 2022

This is how to spend the perfect public holiday to kick-start a celebratory weekend together!

First up – my TCM slimming session at Han Dian TCM to prep myself for all the feasting to come.

Then we were off to our staycay place at D’Hotel Singapore located at Tiong Bahru to check in! Don’t expect too much as it’s quite a no frills hotel without a pool or breakfast, though it does have a rooftop restaurant (halal) and a mini gym. Checking in was pretty swift and efficient too!

Here we were at our Deluxe King Room! The space is pretty big and comfy with a rather plush bed, though some people might find it a little too soft. It also comes with the usual amenities – a mini fridge, kettle with coffee/tea condiments, a sliding wardrobe with an ironing board + iron, bedroom slippers, a study desk and a mini seat.

Our bathroom doesn’t come with a bathtub, but instead, comes with a shower (rain shower / shower wand option), and the usual shower amenities as seen pictured. Make sure you draw the blinds as people will be able to see into the it bathroom but do enjoy the lovely view of Tiong Bahru from your bedroom!

Also, the water pressure was a little meh, and the hot/water temperature pretty bad. Sometimes..just expect a slightly colder shower as occasionally we did not get hot water at all! Very inconsistent. Otherwise, the rest of our stay was pretty good here.

We chilled in our room for quite abit before heading out later for dinner at Bigmama Korean Restaurant, a 15 mins walk away from our hotel because I had a craving for chicken galbi!

Fyi, there are only a few restaurants left in Singapore that offer this dish – one is here and the other, the last remaining Yoogane restaurant at East point.

And here you go, my stir fried chicken galbi with an extra topping of cheeseeee and free flow Korean banchan – yummy!! We also topped up for fried rice at the end of it to go along and it comes topped with seaweed. Perfect, though the meal can be slightly pricey. It was well worth it to satisfy my craving however. And to introduce the mister to something new too~

Finally, to end off the night = it’s Moon Knight time plus cut pineapples that the mister brought along. It’s been a great Day 1 of our staycay and I can’t wait for tomorrow cos it’s a full day of celebration for his birthday!
