Office Diaries (CB Phase 2 (HA), Day 61 (Day 530): Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2021 x Cheap Grilled Fish & Mala at Ju Bao Xuan Mala Hotpot @ Rasapura Marina Bay Sands – 21 Sept 2021

Happy Mid Autumn Festival today everyone! Hope y’all had a good one this 2021 🙂

I know mine was good – here’s a summary of some of my mooncakes this year!

Today is also the day where you really gotta gift out all your mooncakes before the festival ends so I made sure to head off to Yishun to drop off a box!

Lol, but what I didn’t expect is getting a box back in return (though I refused!); and having my fave jelly dessert for lunch at office later on!

More mooncakes gifting today – more like sharing the Hainanese mooncakes (salt and pepper) with my colleagues. Hahhaa, and getting a sweet in return (awww).

Was looking forward for tonight becos it’s a mala feast and my first time trying the Chinese style grilled fish.

So here we were at one of Ju Bao Xuan Mala Hotpot outlets at Rasapura Masters food court at Marina Bay Sands to try them both!

We ordered the grilled fish for $13.80 – choice of mala and healthy herbal soup and we chose the latter. No regrets as the seabass was fresh, delicious and yummy! The broth goes very well with rice as well. I enjoyed it.

For mala lovers, you’ll be excited to know that they have a DEVIL SPICY mala hot pot flavor which is 2x the spicy level of their most spicy level.

Of course, we didn’t get that and went for the lowest tier – 小辣 HAHAHHA. We also added two abalones for $1 each; my first time having abalone and mala together! Their mala spice level is not too bad, barely a kick at the lowest; more garlicky. The ingredients are fresh and we chose the right ones to go well with the sauce including spinach instant noodles; I enjoyed it very much!

Prices start at $1 for noodles, fried beancurd skin, rice, $1.30-$2.30 for vegetables and up to $3.60 per 100g for all types of meat at their Rasapura outlet. However, the pricing is $1.98 per 100g for ALL their ingredients at their Ang Mo Kio outlet instead.

This also marks Xiaohui’s first time eating mala hotpot and I think she’s now open to the idea of eating it in the future! :p

Thanks Protegie and Ju Bao Xuan Mala Hotpot for having us tonight!
