Our Saturday started off on a muted affair with a nice healthy meal to kick-start things off.
Went for a quick yearly visit to get my crystals cleaned before the circuit breaker partial lockdown takes place next week.
May we all stay safe and protected during this period!
Since we were near Jalan Kayu area, we popped by for a quick meal of roti prata at the famous Jalan Kaya prata place called Thasevi to try.
Here, we ordered two plain pratas to share at $1.10 each.
The prata was quite crispy and fluffy – not too shabby and I was quite happy with the quality.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t say the same for the accompanying fish curry which tasted rather mild and watered down.
Nonetheless, would I still be back here?
Yeah, if I’m in the vicinity but I wouldn’t purposely make a trip down just for the prata for sure.
We also popped by Hiang Soon (Otah) Food Catering which was apparently really famous for their freshly made otah.
Here, we tried the fish meat and fish head otah respectively.
To be frank, the fish meat otah (60c) was alright, just meh to me as I’ve tasted better.
The fish head otah ($1) was actually nicer, meatier and tastier – unfortunately it has ALOT of bones (fish head ma) so I didn’t really enjoy it as much because I prefer my otah to be boneless.
We took a quick trip next to Seletar Aerospace since Bear knew that I’ve never visited before.
It was very peaceful and quiet since most people were staying home during this point of time so we almost had the place to ourselves watching the planes take off and land on the airstrip.
The weather was absolutely lovely as well with gorgeous blue skies in an idyllic setting.
Bear said he would bring me here to try the brunch/food at Wheeler’s Yard or Summerhouse when the COVID-19 situation improves further down the road so I’ll be looking forward to that 🙂
Meanwhile, to maintain social distancing and reduce social interaction – it was just mainly me snapping photos of the restaurants outside for now.
Another spot we headed to after was to Punggol Point where we hired a tandem bike for an hour from this bike shop at Punggol Settlement called Jomando. Prices are $18 per hour with the last rental at 7pm 🙂
Here, Bear brought me on a super quick trip to Coney Island to check out the views and the island in general but we didn’t stay on for too long as the island was closed by 7pm or so.
Nonetheless, we still managed to get some good views around the beach area and enjoy cycling around the forested area before leaving to cycle around the Punggol Park area instead.
That was really fun – and hopefully, I’ll one day be able to learn how to cycle to do this on my own bike instead hehe 🙂
(Yes, I cant cycle 😅)
To end of the night – it was time to look for some food for dinner and we tried our luck at Punggol Container Park.
But nay, it was too crowded for us and the food..not exactly very appealing so we left.
We ended up at Sengkang Kopitiam Square instead for some “proper food” according to Bear.
Here’s what we had:
Black Carrot Cake
Tom Kha Gai
Hokkein Mee with Prawns
It wasnt the best or most mind blowing meal, but we had a decent feast for less than $12 for 2 so that hit the spot at the very least.
We were satisfied 😌😀
Meanwhile, the countdown begins till the circuit breaker comes into play: T-3 days.
Sidenote: The number of local cases (cluster cases and unlinked cases) have been on a rapid rise recently. The 5th death also occurred on this day so it’s been quite scary tbh.
May we all stay safe.
