#TouristinSingapore: Gardens by the Bay x Marina Barrage x Jewel Changi Airport – 28 March 2020

Hurhur I guess the biggest problem about sleeping super early the night before is…

Automatically waking up by 830am on a Saturday morning 😔

Gawddd. This is way too early for me 😂

Nonetheless, its our monthiversary day and to kick start off the day = masking time~

Bear dropped by for lunch later on and it warms my heart to see him interacting with my mom, or even just getting on well together.

We were off after that to our first stop – Gardens by the Bay!

Stop #1: Gardens by the Bay (Cloud Forest / Flower Dome (Sakura Matsuri 2020)

It was a beautiful day; albeit a quiet one now due the lack of crowds due to the COVID-19 situation.

Also due to the stricter social distancing measures put into play now, we could only enter the conservatory at staggered timings.

I guess the biggest benefit for now is the massive discounts to Singaporeans during this period – for example, we only paid a $10 entry fee per person to enter two conservatory attractions at Gardens by The Bay – the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

Not forgetting a free $2 dining voucher (min $10 spending) on top of 4 hours of free parking for all visitors!

This would actually mark Bear’s and my first time visiting any of the domes at Gardens by the Bay and I was pretty excited.

We entered the Cloud Forest first since our entry to the Flower Dome was at 430pm and was transported into a magical world inside.

The conservatory was impressive and very well maintained. Just wander around and immerse yourself in the gorgeous colors and vibrancy of all the blooms and foliage around you.

It also makes great OOTD backdrops as well so I gotta thank Bear for being my Instagram bf that day :p

Next up, we popped by the Flower Dome to catch the yearly Sakura Matsuri before it ends its run in Singapore on 29 March.

Can’t visit Japan? Then the Sakura Matsuri is your best bet because that’s where you can catch all the blooming sakura flowers in Singapore and they are absolutely beautiful!

Don’t forget to stop by to admire the other flowers in the flower dome including the numerous succulents!

Best of all, we also enjoyed a 1 for 1 deal on the Udders x Gardens By The Bay ice cream for $5.50 which was a great steal and a lovely way to end off our visit on a high note!

Stop #2: Marina Barrage

Knowing that I’ve never visited Marina Barrage, Bear drove over to the Satay by the Bay carpark (yay for free parking as well) just next door so that we could pop by for a visit.

Couple it with a cooling breeze, cloudy blue skies and a whimsical sight of the kites flying up high in the sky against the skyline of Singapore made my heart feel so full here.

We spent the next two hours just contentedly gazing up to the sky to spot the kites, people watching and enjoying the views in front us and I counted my blessings that we could still enjoy these peaceful moments even during these turbulent periods faced in many other countries.

We are very lucky.

Definitely returning here in the future for a picnic, and perhaps even try our hand at kite flying in the future 🙂

Stop #3: Jewel Changi Airport (Shake Shack / Canopy Park)

Our final stop for the day was to visit Jewel Changi Airport for dinner at Shake Shack coupled with a walk around Canopy Park since we had free entry and 3 hours of free parking (min $10 spending).

This isn’t my first time having Shake Shack; but my first time eating it in Singapore!

We shared a Shack Stack ($14.30) with an add on of applewood smoked bacon (+$1.80) alongside their famed cheese fries ($5.90) and boy..was it a sinful meal.

Those crinkle cut fries were the bomb; but I’m definitely ordering it without the meh cheese in the future becos it tastes wayyy better without it.

The burger on the other hand was superb; albeit greasy. I reckon I probably could polish off the burger myself actually but I think I’ve been indulging in a little too much recently so I’m glad we shared instead! 😅

Finally, we finished the night off with a visit to the Canopy Park (free admission for visitors till 31 March) and took a nice stroll around.

Personally I think the view would look better in the day but I’m not complaining for a free visit.

More importantly, lets hope that we will all be able to tide through this situation smoothly this year and things can get back to normal again.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Last but not least, thanks always for reading 🙂
