8D7N Okinawa Travelogue Day 1: Hotel Stork x Okinawan Prefecture Musuem & Art Museum x Naha Main Place – 25 Jan 2019 (No Car/Solo Travel)

I woke up to a magnificent sunrise at about 5am. Less than 2 hours of sleep but I reckon that’s the best I can get for the day. It was worth it for the view. 🙂

The ojisan next to me gently prodded me to look out at the window to watch the ball of fire rise up – till it got too glaring for the eyes. We would be landing in less than two hours 🙂

This was my first view of Okinawa. Wow, definitely a different vibes from Tokyo and the usual city area!

First thing to do upon landing was to pick up as many pamphlets as possible. Just take all and figure it out from there!

Note that the terminal is pretty small! To get to Yui Monorail to get to Naha city, you will need to drag your lugagge out of the International Terminal towards the Domestic Terminal (quite a walk as it’s not connected).

Note that my itinerary and trip will be for people who DON’T have a car or are not planning to rent a car in Okinawa. I do highly recommending that you rent a car though because you are very limited to only a few places if you don’t.

I also picked up an Okica card here which is something like the ezlink card of Okinawa. You can’t use the usual PASMO or SUICA card that is commonly used in the rest of Japan here ya? And yes, with all IC cards – you can personalize them like what I did here!

There are only 15 stations on the Yui Monorail as below (accurate as of 25 Jan 2019) from Naha airport to Shuri as the last station.

Love the big windows of the monorail and the views out of them are really lovely!

It was a really long walk from the nearest train station to my hotel (10 mins by walking, 25 mins with luggage and figuring out how to get there). I’m very thankful that there are lifts at every station so that was lucky.

Sadly, I couldn’t check in first since the check in was at 3pm so I dumped my luggage there first.

First item I bought = a 100 yen water!

First place I visited = the nearest Lawson! I’m in heaven here that’s for sure!!

So many unique Okinawa specialty loots as well~

Bonus photo with a shisa statue located outside hehe.

I headed next to the nearby Okinawan Prefecture Musuem & Art Museum where they had the time limited Shinkai Makoto exhibition!

Prices were a little too painful to my pocket and I wasn’t that interested in it so I skipped going for the exhibition.

But on all honesty, I was there to poop in a nice clean toilet rather than anything else. HAHHAHA.

I did visit the Musuem shop and the surrounding places that were free though 🙂

Stumbled onto Naha Main Place – a huge shopping centre nearby and found myself in PARADISE.

I swear, I love EVERYTHING about Japan and I just wished I had enough to just spend and buy everything I see.

Lol, that’s kinda what I always say everytime I’m here but I’m always broke AF or on a budget trip hahahhaa. One day 🙂

Lol I tried to run away from shopping and found myself at the arcade instead. 🤦🤦🤦

Took awhile to drag myself out of it too but luckily my rumbling stomach reminded me to have lunch.

Settled it at the food court in the mall and boy, was I spoilt for choice!

Went for a saba fish set and topped up for their Okinawan soba. It may just be a meal in the food court but the food was really good to me imo! I even finished the pickles, yum!

Did I mention about the free flow water available as well?!(:

Spent a little more time wandering about and resting for abit prior to my check in at Hotel Stork at 3pm.

Read about my hotel review of Hotel Stork in a separate post HERE!

After that, I literally crashed for the day. Was that exhausted.

By the time I woke up, it was close to 8plus. Decided to head out once again to Naha Main Place to have dinner lol.

I swear I think I would have tried everything in the food court by the end of this trip haahaha 😂😂

This time, I had the quintessential hamhurg steak and Omurice meal. Not too bad (:

Ended off that night doing some grocery shopping at the supermarket in the mall.

Just nice for one and less than 500 yen for this whole basket(:

And of cos, to end it all off – some blog / client work updates. Hehe 🙂

All in all, it was a wonderful first day in Okinawa and I’m really happy! Excited for my Day 2~ Stay tuned!
