I’ve always been struggling with my weight all my life – wasn’t exactly very overweight for health but my BMI was always at the moderate risk side (BMI: 23 – 24, healthy BMI is 20). Have thought to losing weight for so long, went for crash diets and even thought of going for liposuction and taking diet pills (I didn’t due to safety and health concerns) but they didn’t last for long and I just went back to normal eating after that. Buffets were my thing cos I could gorge myself happily!
Just to share, I’ve mainly maintained my height and weight since secondary school – I stand at 155 cm, and my weight fluctuated between 52 – 58kg but usually around 54kg? Oh, did I mention that I was in the compulsory TAF club (Trim and Fit) back in school for my weight?
I think I was in the lower tiers of the 52kg when I was in poly/uni – until I started working full time after graduation and took up food blogging. That was when my weight jumped drastically back to my TAF club days!
BEFORE (2013 ~ Early 2014, Pre-Han Dian)
My wardrobe used to consist of clothes that would hide my fats – baggy top and shorts for casual days, baggy long tops and stockings for traveling, dresses paired with a blazer or jacket for work. I also refused to wear jeans and pants as they would make my thighs look even bigger (ironically I wore shorts?).
Notice that I used to wear jackets to cover my arms all the time. Now what I didn’t realize is that they actually make my arms look even thicker!! Yeah, I refused to go sleeveless (without my jacket) as I was so self conscious of how I looked.
When I took photos, I also made sure to either take headshots only (I have a small face, so you don’t expect such a fat bottom to go along with it) or half body shots. For the full body shots, I was still okay to upload them on Facebook but not post them on my blog.
I’m sharing all these unflattering photos of myself openly here on my blog for your viewing pleasure; and also to remind myself not to go back to that point in my life. But oh my God, I really looked like an auntie or ajumma back then 😬
You know, I used to stand and look at myself in the mirror and feel so demoralized at the appearance in the mirror as well. I felt sad and fat but YET I was just too lazy to do anything about it other than my usual crash diets or sports activities that usually lasted max 1 week lol. Also, when I snapped photos with the other bloggers, it was when I realized how big I was compared to them. Quite demoralizing too when I couldn’t fit into all my blogshop clothes 😣😣
Let’s just say that I got really concerned when I moved on from a standard M size for dresses and tops to L size while my pants moved on from L to XL size. Don’t forget I’m just 155cm..
AFTER (Late 2014 – 2015)
After embarking of my Han Dian TCM slimming treatments, my confidence level soared – especially in front of the camera! I started taking Instagram seriously in 2014 and posted my first ootd shots then and haven’t stopped since then! Full body shots? No problem!
I donated almost all my old clothes to the salvation army as I couldn’t fit into most of them and revamped my entire wardrobe to fill up with newer and smaller clothes.
I still struggle with sleeveless clothes and wearing jeans/pants but I’m slowly moving past it as I slowly accept my body. It won’t be 100% but compared to before, I’m already really happy with my changes! The following photos were taken post-Han Dian TCM treatments and you can already see the difference from before! No more AUNTIE DAPHNE.. in fact, I think I look younger LOL!
Han Dian TCM
I am really glad that my blog gave me the opportunity to work with Han Dian TCM when they approached me to try out their TCM slimming treatments in exchange for my blog review back in 2014. I agreed only after doing my research and ensuring it didn’t involve any aesthetic or health concerns (TCM slimming is a holistic approach!) plus I figured.. I could really lose some weight.
What I didn’t expect is for the slimming treatments to actually work on me! You can read my entire slimming treatments and procedures below:

Note that the treatments come at a price – you need to be fully committed or else it won’t work. I struggled at first but if you see it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet, that’s when it becomes life changing. The bottom line is that it WORKS!

BEFORE & AFTER – A Comparison
Here’s a quick breakdown of my measuring statistics when I first started compared to when I finished all 20 sessions of my Han Dian TCM slimming treatments in around less than 5 months! Note that ideally you should go for at least 1 – 2 sessions a week but due to work and blog commitments it dragged on further than I expected (5 months).

Does the Weight REBOUND?
That’s me in 2013 with my colleagues and me once again with the same colleagues in 2015. Think the pictures say it all 😛
Moving forward to 2016, 2017 and now 2018. Remember the blue dress that I wore in 2013? This is how it looks now on me:
And of course, here are my more recent ootds from 2018!
No regrets to a happier and more confident me – thanks to Han Dian TCM 🙂
