Was craving for some Thai food when I was at Siam area on our 2nd day in Thailand!
Inter Restaurant 1989
Decided to check out Inter Restaurant, a local Thai restaurant popular with both locals and tourists that is highly recommended by many online blogs!
Inter Restaurant 1989
432/1-2 Siam Square 9, Bangkok, Thailand
Even though we reached around 8pm, there was still a crowd/queue to enter the restaurant! Luckily since we only had 2 people; we were immediately ushered into the restaurant! There are 2 levels to the restaurant and we were seated at the 2nd level for your reference! Plenty of seating all around but still it is so crowded!
The Menu
For your reference, here’s the menu below available in both Thai/English!
For tourists, they even gave us a picture book but it doesn’t have names nor prices of the dishes though. I guess it is mainly for westerners or people who will order just by pointing at the pictures if they are not familiar with Thai food!
The Food & Drinks!
For drinks, the bf ordered the quintessential Thai Milk tea while I enjoyed a bottle of Gudetama water I bought from 7-11!
Things slightly went downhill from there as our food took FOREVER to come!! I think we waited for almost 30-40 minutes for our first mains to come and the rest were served much later! The wait was quite off putting but luckily the food made up for it as they were pretty good.
Here’s what we ordered for your reference:
Chinese Sausage Fried Rice – 75 baht x 2
Thais do their fried rice just right, but serving portion is usually relatively small!
Pork in Coconut Milk Curry – 100 baht
I originally thought it was Tom kha gai as I didn’t read in properly; but in the end it was literary pork in Coconut milk curry.. still good though.
Omelette with Minced Pork – 85 baht
The MUST ORDER for wx! He was relatively happy with it but I think he still prefers the usual chinese style.
Stir Fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts – 110 baht
Our favourite must order Thai dish! Think their rendition was average and it was too oily though.
Stir Fried Morning Glory – 80 baht
I love morning glory and it is always SUPER crunchy and yummy in Thailand! Their version is more spicy than usual though.
Overall, you can tell that we enjoyed a feast for our last night in Bangkok that day! Just a pity about that super long waiting time though!
We paid 565 baht for our entire meal which is around $23 for 2 people – definitely cheaper compared to Singapore considering the amount of food we consumed!
Wouldn’t especially return to Inter Restaurant on my next visit though as there are still other local Thai restaurants to check out in the same area. You can check it out for yourself if you are interested- just be prepared to wait during peak hours!
