mitsueki Travels | 3D2N Bangkok Aug 2016: VIE Hotel Bangkok

Since it was my birthday trip when I was in Bangkok last year (August), I decided to splurge a little more on a nicer 5* hotel for this portion of the trip!

We didn’t want to stay too close to the Erawan Shrine or Siam Area especially due to the unsettling situations recently so I decided to book a hotel at my favourite district of Ratchathewi, just a mere 1 stop away from Siam away from the bustling traffic!

VIE Hotel MGallery by Sofitel

There were plenty of choices but I decided to book VIE Hotel MGallery by Sofitel marking it as my first stay in a Sofitel property!

Here’s our hotel at night/day, a really lovely hotel. In case your taxi driver can’t find the place, get him to drop you off at Asia Hotel or Ratchathewi BTS and just walk a few minutes to reach.

Checking In!

Very classy and inviting reception area with the large lounge area at the side. We had complimentary welcome drinks and towels upon our arrival during check in! With that said, check in was pretty smooth and it took us less than 15 minutes before we were issued our room cards.

VIE Suite Room Tour

I was looking at our room number with skepticism as it said it was a VIE Suite though I knew I booked the VIE Deluxe.

Surprise surprise – VIE Hotel gave me a pleasant surprise with the complimentary upgrade to their suite room! The following photos are a mixture of photos taken during the day and at the night when we arrived thus the color difference hahaha!

Living Room

Let’s just say that our suite was HUGE! There was an office area with a working desk and an entire living room at the other end!

Did I mention that I’m loving this HUGE mirror right by the door?!

Birthday Surprise!

Was also touched by the preparations done by the VIE Hotel staff for my birthday with a complimentary birthday cake!

Coffee machine and the usual tidbits at the side. All chargeable except for the coffee and Twinnings tea!

The chiller with loads of drinks. Chargeable but the bottled water is free (not referring to the Evian or Perrier Water ah!).

Moving on to our bedroom. Plenty of space for our luggages.. not that we had many lol. 7kg weight limit per person for Air Asia! #budgetairwoes #toocheaptoupgrade

Our luxurious king sized bed where we had a wonderful 2 nights in. Comes with a pillow menu but we didn’t use it.

Bedside couch that can sleep 1 person!

No nightly turn down service but we had flowers and baked cookies daily on the 2 nights that we stayed placed by housekeeping! Don’t need to worry to buy water as I think on average we had 4 bottles restocked daily!

The wardrobe next to our bed had the usual essentials including hangers, ironing board and a safety deposit box.

This is the first time I’ve seen a hotel provide 2 types of footwear in the room! High end quality soft bedroom slippers and these rattan slippers. Super good quality and you CANNOT bring them back. Sadly if you like them, you gotta pay.

And now.. our bathroom! Beautifully done with a BIG bathtub for 2, shower facilities and a toilet all nicely segregated.

As I said.. water isn’t a problem lol!

I only wished that they would let us know the brand of the shampoo and soap though as I was slightly apprehensive over using hotel branded shampoo/soap. I brought my own but decided to use theirs. It’s okay I guess but eh lol

Oh oh and they gave bath salts too!!

On the whole, I had a wonderful stay at VIE Hotel Bangkok for my birthday trip! Cannot rave enough about VIE Hotel from the rooms to the location but I guess my only issue is the lack of obvious power plugs in the room. We had to hunt around looking for a power plug and even resorted to plugging out a lamp as we had a couple of adapters! There was only one next to the bed! 😂

Other than that.. I didn’t experience their other facilities sadly because I didn’t have time to explore. Their location is fantastic though as it’s like 2 or 3 minutes walk from Ratchathewi BTS. Calling a cab is easy too!

If I had the chance to be back and looking for a nice luxurious option, VIE Hotel will definitely be my pick. Otherwise if I’m just looking for a decently cheap and good hotel at Ratchathewi, I’ll stay at Evergreen instead 😁😁

Gotta thank the bf for treating me to this Bangkok birthday trip! 😗😗😗
