Singapore Cinema Price Guide 2014 for Golden Village, Shaw, Cathay & FilmGarde
The following chart is only comparing the 4 major players, ie. GV, Cathay, Shaw & Film Garde on the 2D movie ticket as EngWah is slated to open their brand new 10 digital halls at WE-Empress Square in Clementi sometime in mid 2014.
Coming soon will the chart on 3D movie tickets and other premium movie experience such as GV’s Gold Class & Cathay’s Platinum Movie Suite.
Credit Card and other promotions
1. Golden Village
- DBS/POSB : $1 OFF for 2D movie.
- VISA Card : 4 tickets for the price of 3.
- HSBC movie Card : pre-paid 10 movie tickets at $8.50
2. Shaw Theatres
- NTUC card : $7.50.
- DBS card : Redeem 2 movie tickets with 1,200 DBS points.
- OCBC FRANK card : $1 OFF
- SAFRA card : $7.50 – $9.00 & 1-For-1 Deal(till 30 Mar 2014)
3. Cathay Cineplex
- UOB card : $8.00 – $10.50.
- NTUC card : $7.00– $9.50. *Not valid for weekends*
- AIA vitality card : $5.00 – $8.00.
- Mastercard : $8.00 – $10.50
- UOB card : $8.00 – $10.50.
- NTUC card : $7.00– $9.50.
- AIA vitality card : $5.00 – $8.00.
- Mastercard : $8.00 – $10.50
Students Discount
Students get to go on special rates for some days in a week. In the Golden Village theatres students are charged $7.00 for movies screened before 6 pm from Monday to Thursday. In Shaw, Cathay and Film Garde Cineplex, they are charged $6.50, $7.00 and $7.00 respectively.
Senior Citizens Special Rates
Before 6 pm, the Golden village allows the senior citizens to buy a ticket only for $4.50 from Monday to Friday. The same offer stands true for senior citizens before 6 pm in the Shaw theatres. The Cathay theatres for the same time charge the senior citizens $5.00 whereas in the Film Garde, senior citizens are charged $4.00 from Monday to Thursday for movies screened before 5 pm.
Discounts for Children – FREE TICKETS!
Golden Village is probably the most pro-family cinema in Singapore. Kids below 12 years of age get a FREE complimentary ticket with 2 Adult standard ticket purchased (not valid with other promotions). This Kids for Free promotion at Golden Village is even extended to Sat & Sun for all movies screened before 2 PM.
In Shaw Theatres, kids below the age of 6 could enjoy FREE movie tickets with each Adult ticket purchased, valid before 2 PM on weekdays.
For Cathay Cineplexes, the current Kids promotion is Mom and Tots that offers a bundle package of $12 (inclusive of 1 Junior + 1 Jumbo Hotdog + 2 x Minute Maid Pulpy Orange drinks). With every one movie ticket purchase, one movie ticket will be given free to children below 7 years of age. Valid for shows screen before 2PM, from Monday to Friday. All kids promotions for all 3 cinemas are valid on all G, PG and PG13 rated movie titles only.

Ntuc card doesnt applies for cathay’s weekend tickets anymore. I went to catch a movie around a month ago and they said that ntuc card cannot be used for weekends and i ended up paying $13 for each ticket :<

Cathay still has passion card promotion for $7 on weekdays. I watched X-Men with that price 🙂
