Commuters can look forward to greater connectivity in the city when stage one of the Downtown Line opens on 22 December 2013. Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew made the announcement at the Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition on Monday 7 October, Channel NewsAsia reported.

The new Downtown Line will link to three other MRT lines – East West Line, Northeast Line and Circle Line when it fully opens.

Six stations will operate in December, but four are linked to existing stations, namely Chinatown, Bayfront, Promenade and Bugis. The two new ones are Telok Ayer and Downtown stations.

Goodie goodie! Looking forward to more lines opening so it’s more convenient for my side! Hopefully it wouldn’t be too crowded though ;/
