A Singaporean man, his girlfriend and her parents and brother alighted from their car which had broken down on the Central Expressway. However, they were then hit by another car.

The accident happened in the wee hours of this morning (Aug 9) towards the Seletar Expressway, before the Yio Chu Kang exit. According to The Straits Times, four of them were killed enroute to the airport when they were hit by another car upon alighting from their car which had broken down.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a phone call at 3.56am and arrived to find two women and one man lying motionless on the road. All three were pronounced dead on the scene. Singaporean Amron Ayoub, 23, was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital with multiple injuries but died there. The driver of their car, in his 20s, was not injured.

This is really tragic to happen on our nation’s birthday. I believe that they were leaving Singapore for a short getaway during the long weekend since they were heading to the airport. Not sure of the exact circumstances of what exactly happened but this is a really sad story to read today..

RIP to the family
