Filipino doctor falls four storeys down lift shaft
A Filipino doctor, Dr Hannah Tan (above), fell four storeys and landed on top of a lift, which had stopped at the first floor, at a Jalan Besar hostel last Thursday.
Dr Hannah Tan fell into a lift shaft
The 29-year-old, who was in Singapore with her family to attend a conference, was in pain and alone in the darkness of the shaft for four hours. She was discovered when her mother heard her cries for help.
Dr Tan, who was staying at the hostel with six family members, was on the way to the toilet when she stepped into the lift shaft, which is next to the toilet. She said: “It was dark and scary. I kept crying for help.”

She suffered serious injuries, but is in stable condition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
So according to sources in EDMW here, as well as The New Paper article, she mistook the door with the Danger Keep Out sign for the toilet and fell into the lift shaft. After a couple of hours, the mother in law called a stuntman from Universal Studio to rescue her (why not SCDF? -.-?). At this moment, she’s blaming the hostel’s management for not locking the shaft in the first place and putting a clear danger keep out sign.
Regardless, hope she recovers eh?
