Food Review | Curry House CoCo Ichibanya @ 313 Somerset

The bf and I really adore eating Japanese curry rice, so it’s no surprise that given a choice of food available at 313 @ Somerset, we chose to eat at Curry House CoCo Ichibanya a couple of weeks ago!(:

———————————————-The Decor & Interior ————————————————-

The decor is pretty simple and well planned out like most Japanese restaurants and of course, there’s the display area with all the realistic looking curry models which is really attractive(:

Just some random shots of both of us:

———————————————-The Menu / Prices ———————————————-

As usual, here’s the menu for your reference. Basically Curry House CoCo Ichibanya serves only Japanese curry rice so if you’re looking for other Japanese food (other than curry rice), you may want to head to Yayoiken Japanese Restaurant instead.

Back to menu – so there are like different types of Japanese curry rice for you to choose from ranging from curries with meat.

Curries with seafood and I think there are a few more that I didn’t take.

There are a few steps when ordering at Curry House CoCo Ichibanya:

  1. Select your choice of curry
  2. Select your quantity of rice (standard is 250g) – top up or deduct the price for more/less rice
  3. Choose level of spiciness based on your preference
  4. Select any additional toppings (extra charges)

You can also opt to top up for a menu set(:

———————————————-The Food ———————————————-———

The food was served pretty promptly and here’s what we had(:

1. Omu Rice Pork Cutlet (Spice Level: Mild) – S$16.00

As always, the bf will take the pork cutlet. Ah but this time though, he opted to get the omu rice instead. So what you’ll get is Japanese omelette with rice inside in a pool of delicious Japanese curry topped with crispy and tender pork cutlet. Sounds good? Yeah, tastes great too!

2. Chicken Cutlet Curry (Spice Level: Mild)  – S$12.00 + (Top up S$1.00 for corn)

I always prefer my chicken cutlet over the pork cutlet because I think it’s more tender and I like the taste of chicken more. As you can tell as well, we don’t really take spicy food so our spice level selected is mild. I love the curry though because it’s just one of the better Japanese curries in Singapore that I’ve eaten so far – it’s sweet and not too spicy. Perfect to eat with the Japanese rice and dip my delicious and moist chicken cutlet to eat together. Heaven I would say(:

Ah and I topped up for a cup of sweet corn. Didn’t eat with the curry, ate it alone though, hehe.

———————————————-The Verdict ———————————————-———

You can tell by our clean dishes how much we enjoyed our respective Japanese curry rice at Curry House CoCo Ichibanya right? Yepp, we are huge fans of Japanese curry and I would say that Curry House CoCo Ichibanya has one of the better Japanese curries (as mentioned) in Singapore!

Ah yes, and this is how much we paid for our meal including the 2 drinks we had. I think that the price of the curry rice may be rather steep but for good and delicious tasting Japanese curry it’s quite worth it in my opinion(:

That’s why, yes – I would highly recommend you try out Curry House CoCo Ichibanya for yourselves!(: Oh and if you have any recommendations for good Japanese curry as well, just let me know – would love to try! 😀
