Food Bites | LE Cafe Confectionery & Pastry

After lunch one day with the colleagues, we decided to get a box of the famous bean curd tarts from the main branch of Le Cafe Confectionery & Pastry at Middle Road for our tea break snack.

1. Bean Curd Tarts (Original) – S$8.00

You have to get a box of 8 as they don’t sell it separately. There are 3 flavors – original, mixed and durian but it’s best that you try the original ones first if you haven’t tried them before(: Basically these bean curd tarts comes with silky smooth soya bean filling, encased in a thin cup of delicious pastry. (No pork. No lard). Best to be consumed upon purchase or keep them chilled(:

Upon their first appearance, you might think they look like normal egg tarts, but they definitely don’t taste the same! I found the crust to be the best part of the tart as I really like the pastry – though others might find it too thick for their liking. The refreshing and cold bean curd filling is a nice change from the normal Portuguese or egg tart filling but I think I still prefer my Tong Heng egg tarts!(:

For your reference, the mixed bean curd tarts flavours are these:

Mixed Bean Curd Tarts – S$9.00
Flavours: Original / Logan in Bean Curd / Grass Jelly in Bean Curd / Gingko Nut & White Fungus in Bean Curd / Peanuts in Bean Curd / Red Beans in Bean Curd / Egg White in Bean Curd

2. Old-Fashioned Butter Cupcakes (Classic 60s butter cake) – S$3.90
*Price may be wrong

At the same time, I decided to get these old fashioned butter cupcakes to share with my loves – Rachel and Serene as I was going to meet them later that day for a catchup session at Dome Cafe (blog post on that will be up soon)! Quite like the cupcakes which were sprinkled with these cute sugar sprinkles on them – pretty nice and moist. Yums!(:

Oops and before I end off, just remembered that we ordered a chocolate mousse birthday cake from LE Cafe before for our head’s birthday a few weeks ago:

Mm, and I really enjoyed the slice of cake that I ate and doesn’t it look good too?(:

Other than bean curd tarts, muffins and cakes, Le Cafe is also famous for it’s moon pies, pineapple golf ball tarts and so much more!(:

Speaking of which..just remembered that I had a pineapple golf ball tart last year as well:
