I posted this last night here actually, but now more details of the case has been revealed on STOMP:
Man’s leg may be amputated after being slashed by cousin and friend
A man who was punched and slashed by his cousin and friend at Ang Mo Kio may now need to amputate his right leg should a major operation fail today.
According to a report in The Straits Times, Mr Mohammad Ashiq Saptu, 20, broke his legs and his left arm while trying to shield himself from the two men who used what he described as a “watermelon knife”.

The knife was 80cm long, reports an article in Shin Min Daily News.
The disagreement started a few days earlier when Mr Ashiq was supposed to meet the cousin – his attacker – and another cousin. The cousin stood him up for five hours and Mr Ashiq later found out this was because he was out “having fun” with the friend.
An angry Mr Ashiq phoned the cousin over the incident and a quarrel ensued. On Sunday, the cousin asked to meet him at the block where Mr Ashiq’s girlfriend lives and it was there where they launched their brutal attack. The attack happened at around 5.30pm at Block 641, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4.
According to an eyewitness, one of them held on to the victim while another slashed the victim and shouted, “You deserve it.” They then ran off in different directions and met up at the road opposite. Mr Ashiq was rushed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he is believed to be in intensive care.
