4 arrested for Geylang slashing: Attack was over ‘dispute between known parties’
Four men suspected of slashing a man with parangs in Geylang last Thursday (May 9) have been arrested by the police. Mr Huang Zhimin, 34, was repeatedly slashed on the head and body, leaving a long trail of blood. He had had been followed by three youths earlier.
Fortunately, he was attended to by a passing doctor, Wu Weiliang, 53, who saved his life. However, the dealer in mobile phone parts suffered another blow when his wife said she wanted a divorce.
According to a Straits Times report, police said they were were notified of an incident on May 9 around 5.30pm at Geylang Lorong 23, where they found an injured man in his 30s. The victim was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
A 42-year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested along Geylang Lorong 9 on May 12. Officers then arrested another three suspects in the vicinity of Champions Way in Woodlands. Two parangs were also seized. Police said the attack arose “due to a dispute between known parties”.
All four suspects will be charged in court on May 14 for voluntary causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon. If convicted, they may face life imprisonment or 15 years in jail. They may also be fined or caned.

Been a few days since I went on STOMP to read up on the latest news..but spotted on STOMP today, I saw this horrifying incident:
A man was slashed multiple times at Geylang on Thursday evening, leaving a long trail of blood. He had apparently been followed by three youths earlier. Lianhe Wanbao reported that the man had walked into the compound of HighPoint Community Services Association at Lorong 23 Geylang. Three youths were seen following him.
Later, the man in his 30s was spotted crawling out from behind the building to the open air carpark by a security guard. He left a long trail of blood. The man had suffered multiple slash wounds on his head and body.

There was also another case of violence in the area on Friday morning. A brawl had broken out between two groups of men at a coffeeshop at the junction of Guillermard Road and Lorong 12 Geylang. One man has been hospitalised with slash wounds, while nine are on the run from police. A total of 14 men were involved in the fight.
