A 43-year-old mother and her two children, aged 17 and 18, were arrested on Wednesday after a three-month shoplifting spree at Causeway Point mall.

Here is the full statement from the police:

Police have arrested a 43 year-old woman, her 17 year-old son and 18 year-old daughter for a series of Shop Theft cases committed at a shopping complex located at Woodlands Square.

From January 2013 to March 2013, numerous cases of shop theft were reported at different retail outlets within the shopping complex. Through protracted enquires and investigations, the identities of the suspects were established.

On 20 March 2013 at about 6.30 pm, officers from the Jurong Police Division arrested the trio at their residence in the vicinity of Woodlands Circle.

They were believed to have committed at least 10 cases of shop theft from various outlets of the shopping complex.

Following a search of their unit, police seized more than $2,600 worth of items believed to have been stolen. The items included clothing, cosmetics, toys, stationery and perfume.

Investigations against the three suspects are ongoing.

And wow, 3 months of shoplifting spree leh! The economy is pretty bad but surely not to that extent right? Anyway it’s most likely that they aren’t poor as they stole things that have monetary value instead of necessities!
