**Updated: The dog has been adopted into a new loving home**

I love animals, but unfortunately, I am unable to keep a pet as my mom hates animals. But I know that I’ll own at least a cat and a dog in the future.

So when I see people who have the capacity to keep a pet but YET choose to abandon the pet like trash due to:

• The pet developing problems (probably due to the person being a horrible caretaker)
• A genetic problem especially if they were from a puppy mill
• The pet grew up and was too big or cute
• Having a pet wasn’t a dream or as easy to take care of as expected

And THIS IS THE RESULT of IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS:

Just like unwanted trash, this poor dog was abandoned at the corner of a HDB void deck at – Block 170 Bukit Panjang. Fortunately, a kind soul found him/her. However, I’m not sure of the dog’s gender.

And according to the friend of the person who found the dog, she says that the dog is blind in one eye (as you can see) and seems to have skin problem due to lack of hygiene.

Right now, they are appealing to find this dog a home or at least to foster the dog till he/she is able to find a new home. A pet is for life.

A pet is NOT a THING which you think is cute at the first sight, and so you buy it, or adopt it or what. It comes with RESPONSIBILITES. So please, as a pet owner. Be responsible for the pet that you have brought home. At least give it the basic necessities such as a bath – is it so hard? Bring it to the vet occasionally for a check up. Take care of it.

Don’t just take the easy way out and dump it just because your pet failed to live up to your expectations. And do you know? Abandoning your pet is ILLEGAL in Singapore.

Under the Animals and Birds Act, anyone who is found guilty of such an offence, including abandonment of any animal can be imprisoned for up to 12 months, fined up to $10,000, or both.
