This isn’t fresh news, but it is new to me:

Military Expert (ME) 2, Chee Weng Fai Jason from the Singapore Armed Forces is critically injured after he was caught between a winch and a rope onboard the navy’s Landing Ship Tank RSS Endeavour.

The regular, a weapon systems supervisor, is believed to have suffered upper and lower limb injuries.

The Mindef statement added that RSS Endeavour was berthed at Changi Naval Base during the incident.

Surprisingly this piece of news wasn’t splashed on the front page of the newspapers. Generally in the morning, I only read My Paper which my colleagues will pass to us on a daily basis. And I didn’t recall seeing this news – which I think is really big deal.

The bf said that even in The New Paper, this was just a tiny little article which most people would have missed.

**UPDATED!**
According to sources, it is believed that he lost both his legs and an arm due to the incident:

SINGAPORE: Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) serviceman Jason Chee has lost both his legs and his left hand, following an accident on board the Landing Ship Tank RSS Endeavour.

This is according to a family member of Mr Chee.

His elderly father is extremely shaken by the news and is currently being taken care of by relatives, according to the husband of Jason’s cousin, Mr Danny Boey.

Mr Boey says Jason is the family’s only child and sole breadwinner.

The serviceman recently lost his mother, who was a kidney dialysis patient, while he was on board his ship in the Gulf for anti-piracy patrol.

**IMPORTANT**

Also, are you of an O+ blood type? Right now, his friend is holding an appeal to ask for people to donate O+ blood type as the blood bank supply is low at the moment.

Some of my colleagues have already gone to donate and the bf is also considering to donate as well. Unfortunately, I will not be able to do so as I am of a B+ blood type.

If you are an O+ blood type:
1. Please read below to see if you are eligible and donate if you can
2. Mention that you are donating for Jason Chee

If you are of a different blood type like me:
1. Please share this appeal on your Facebook, blog it, Tweet it so that there is more exposure

For more information, please refer below or click HERE:

**URGENT APPEAL:**

One of our servicemen, ME2 Jason Chee Weng Fai, was critically injured during deck operations onboard RSS Endeavour on 10 Dec 12. He is currently warded at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Changi General Hospital (CGH). He had since undergone several operations and his condition remains critical.

Jason will continue to require blood transfusions for subsequent operations, and the national blood supply for the O+ blood group is low at the moment.

I wish to appeal for blood donations (O+ blood group) at the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to support Jason in his journey to recovery. Any blood donations made at HSA will go towards the National pool which will facilitate Jason’s blood transfusion requirements. Details on the blood donation drive are stated as follows:

Donors will be screened further at the blood bank and may be rejected due to unsuitability.

Your NRIC/11B is required to register as a donor so do bring it along. Do inform the registration counter that you are from the Republic of Singapore Navy and donating in support of ME2 Jason Chee.

Please note that blood donation is a purely voluntary act. On behalf of Jason and his family, as well as the men and women of the Navy Family, I would like to thank you for your kind and generous support.

As of now, according to the Defense Ministry: “Detailed investigations are ongoing, and “preliminary findings indicate equipment malfunction as a possible contributory cause” of the accident”.

It wasn’t his fault that this tragic accident happened. Within such a short period of time, he just lost so much – his mom, both his legs and his arm.

Can you imagine what he is going though right now?

I hope that sufficient compensation will be melted out as this is an extremely serious case. Moreover, as he is also the sole breadwinner of his family.

I also hope that one of the organizations will open a donations drive to help him tide over any financial difficulties – including his hospitalization bills and in general if needed. Many Singaporeans like me will definitely contribute what we can to help him.

My prayers, support and best wishes goes out to Jason and his family to tide over this difficult period and I know that many of you will also be supporting them too.

Stay strong Jason

Till Later,
